2008-2009
Annual Report
Syracuse Rotary
Foundation, Inc.
The
Syracuse
Rotary Foundation was chartered in 1957 to facilitate the educational,
charitable and benevolent efforts of the Syracuse Rotary Club.
The
stewardship of our foundation resources is the responsibility of its
board of
trustees which respectfully submits this report today.
Members of the foundation are those members
of the Syracuse Rotary Club of Syracuse, NY who are in good standing
and who
have contributed financially to the foundation within the most recently
completed fiscal year. All members of
the Board of Trustees are elected on an annual basis at the annual
meeting of
the general membership of the foundation.
Accordingly,
as the current president of the Syracuse Rotary Foundation, I now call
this
annual meeting of the Foundation to order.
As previously stated only Syracuse Rotarians who have
contributed to the
foundation in the last fiscal year are foundation members in good
standing and
are as a result eligible to vote.
During
the
recently completed rotary year, the investment committee of the board
of
trustees provided direction and guidance during these turbulent market
times. The committee consists of Irv
Hill, PP John Lewein and John McDivitt.
A special note of appreciation and gratitude to these prominent
members
of the foundation for their tireless energies and pursuits to maintain
the
vitality of our corpus.
Trustees
approved grants totaling $19,950 for organizations recommended by the
P&C
Committee of the Syracuse Rotary Club.

These
recommendations resulted from the hard work of the P&C Committee,
chaired
by Gary Katz by evaluating all proposals received from charitable
organizations
active in the Central New York community.
Additionally, due to anonymous donations and matching grants
these efforts
resulted in funding in excess of $32,000.
Our efforts to leverage charitable funding dollars will continue
during
the current rotary year. Special thanks
to all contributing Syracuse Rotarians, especially during these
turbulent
financial times.
The
nominating committee for the current year trustees was chaired by

As
